Re: Hey, General Assembly of MD: ”Reverse Deregulation!”

ACORN had set up the action and we wanted to get in ahead of them to assess what accomodations we had. There were two police cruisers blocking thesidewalk and 4 or 5 bike cops patrolling the sidewalks. Numerous private security guards in polo shirts and tweed blazers patrolled nervously. At that moment I felt powerful. What threat were we that they needed a dozen armed sentries?
One by one, protestors began to show up and when we had about thirty we began our chants and soon traffic on all sides were honking their horns in solidarity. White people, black people, latinos and asians - all raised their fists in solidarity. Rich and Poor, al they were calling out "My bill was $1400!" , "I cant afford to pay it!" , "Hold the thieves accountable!"
We saw the smirks of BG&E execs staring from their private parking deck. They weren't smiling when Acorn arrived. There is nothing more beautiful to me than a bus load of dissent unloading in the heart of Baltimore's putrid hive of consumerism, the Inner Harbor.
Soon the air was ripe with chants, cheers, honks and jeers all aimed at BG&E just a few feet away.
Turn out the lights BG&E, plug the people back in!
