When Hughes writes, "Israel's unjust invasion, and attempt to seize parts of Lebanon up to the Litani River, has to date, also resulted in 118 Israeli fatalities, including the deaths of 82 of its soldiers"--anybody can see he is totally biased. Israel was attacked by Hezbollah; they kidnapped two soldiers; and Israel has a right to respond and defend itself.
While Richard Perle might have advocated an Israel attack on Lebanon, Israel in fact has refrained from doing so. Israel withdrew from Lebanon in 2000. It's border was certified by the U.N., resolution 1559 (I think). Then Hezbollah has made small attacks on Israel ever since, and Israel has never responded with an invasion. This latest incident simply pushed the country over the top.

Israel was founded in 1948 to defend the Jewish people from the racist murder of the Europeans. Maybe Hughes want to continue that tradition. The U.S. really only became an ally after Israel defended itself and won in the 1967 war.
