Re: Green’s Ed Boyd Challenges Duopoly in Maryland
23 Oct 2006
Date Edited: 23 Oct 2006 12:11:44 PM
The Populists campaign? What has that consisted of? Sitting behind their computers and trashing the Greens, Ed Boyd, and his supporters. They obviously want to bait the campaign into conflict. Did Ed Boyd and his supporters who were out protesting stop the Populists from being out there? I think not.
Kay Dellinger, the person who wrote this article, is a registered Green. So is half of the Populist CC members. Why are they not supporting Boyd, their own party's candidate? Ed Boyd and James Madigan even went to the Populists and asked for their endorsement.
Though the Populists gave their endorsement to Kevin Zeese at their "convention" of seven people, they did not give it to Ed. Instead, they told Ed at the Populist nominating convention that they would consider his proposal. The Populists later met in secret. By the way, it is worthy to note that Dellinger and Zeese are on the Populist CC. At the nominating convention, they endorsed Zeese, at their later secret CC meeting, they endorsed Driscoll.
Me thinks Dellinger protesteth too much as it is she and her Populists who are indeed the sectarians. They got Nader-supporting Greens to get signatures for them on false pretenses, saying they were only starting the Party to run Ralph Nader. Their candidate has no platform except for a tax plan that was drawn up by one of the co-chairs of the Maryland Green Party, and if you count their publicly downing Ed Boyd and his supporters these past few months, that still does not entailk much of a platform. The only media coverage the Populists have received is Dellinger's trashing of the Ed Boyd campaign in the Chronicle. This is what does not promote unity.
I have worked on various causes with BOyd and his supporters here in Baltimore, I have never worked with the Populists because they never do anything, ever, except trash the Greens.
The Boyd campaign is doing what any group of sane people would do when dealing with such a messed up group of people like the Populists: they are ignoring them. And better yet, they are sticking to the issues.
It would be nice if the Populists would do the same.
