The gains of the 1960's and 70's via various Civil rights legislation efforts (albeit flawed based upon their intent: to stave off revolution and not to truly guarantee rights)have been rolled back so far there is no real hope other than one class overthrowing another.

This is a direct result of lofty idealism and wishful thinking by people like yourself convincing an ignorant electorate to go along with you and cretins like you in authoritarian schemes of rank opportunism and poverty pimpin' designed to line the pockets of non-profit organizations and other NGOs.

How can you uphold a system that is so terribly flawed that its numerous symtoms (police brutality, the FISA court, enviromental destruction, genocide, etc) have been roundly condemned by the United Nations over and over and over?

As Trotsky put it bluntly, "the masses are asses". This is why 85% of the population, like yourself, are so easily bought off. This is the root of the continuing appeal of Neo-Nazism. Since the masses are so backward, then you must deal with them in ways they are familiar with, ways that have worked for over 200 years: brute force. Sad, but true.
