They are wearing desert fatigues, which are different shades of tan with NO GREEN. In short, the Pentagon knew from the second that footage was aired that those bodies were not American soldiers. But it allowed the networks to push the issue to the max, wringing as much outrage as possible from the public.

A lot of the soldiers in desert uniforms are carrying green equipment (ALICE packs, water bags, etc.) ... the POWs and KIAs were not front-line soldiers, they were in a resupply convoy - and were probably reservists who would most likely NOT have been issued desert camo - I'm not sure the US Army has enough to go around. If you look at pictures from the front of the first Gulf War, a lot of coalition soldiers, including US troops were in green uniforms - and maybe the US never thought it would need a couple hundred thousand more desert camo sets.

By the way, this is just a guess, and I am way against this bushit war.
