There is a way to deter this kind of outrage: You arrange in advance for people who specialize in CD to prepare three lockdowns. If ANY rider is assaulted, arrested, or her bike is damaged or taken, the lockdowns deploy barrels or at least lockboxed to blockade the busiest intersections that can be found without enough cops to stop the deployment.

If the ride checks in at teh end of the ride with the password, the CD crews don't deploy and need not risk arrest. Wrong password or no check-in(or an emergency call) equals severe traffic jams as the CD crews retaliate.

Only the passwords for distress and all-clear, and the identities of teh lockdown participants need to be secret. The rest should be broadcast high and low as a deterrent threat. If the cops don't listen and call us onit, teh blockades are deployed and motorists and the press are told its a retaliatory strike for teh police action.
