Students and community members celebrated May Day at Towson University with a “Worker Appreciation Day” organized by the Student Worker Alliance at Towson and a cook out celebration organized by Give A Shit!. Turnout was higher than expected for the cook out, with many non-Towson activists coming to the Glen Woods to join the fun. These included members of Food Not Bombs, who provided delicious vegan pasta, and a group who set up an info table. Unfortunately, the worker appreciation event earlier in the day, organized in conjunction with the living wage campaign on campus, did not attract as large a group of activists and students as the Glen Woods picnic, although many campus workers stopped by to chat and eat some food.
