Re: CHERYL SEAL SPECIAL REPORT: Campaign 2004: To Win, the Democrats Must Reclaim Their Soul and America's Center
13 Jan 2004
Date Edited: 13 Jan 2004 08:28:51 AM
Leadership Democrats have abandoned their base...which they acknowledged in the 2000 election. The Democratic Party was the working man...now they are trying to convince them that they are for "globalization to survive". Workers are expected to compete with cheap foreign labor in China, etc.
I even heard a Democratic candidate tell union workers in Iowa that the WTO, NATA, etc. was good for them...and did not agree with their opposition to it.
Only Rep. Kucinich wants us out of these trade deals for a more balanced one. Democrats are not supporting him in his own party.
Republicans have also abandoned their base...of small local and state government, ethics and a balanced budget.
They have failed to punish wrong doers and corporate and fiancial fraud. Key Lay still walks free.
Republicans no longer send their money and power back to communities but to huge international trading organizations such as FTAA. Tax dollars go to the top 1% and off-shore banks not invested in local communities. Privite contract companies have incresed in government...making government larger instead of smaller.
There is no sign of the old Republican Party today. It is the "religion" of privitization and huge international corporate government unions (EU and the Americas, etc.). Unelected trade representatives are deciding policy and jobs...not local at all or democratic.
Members of both parties are angry and silenced about the direction of their party and democracy.
Now, we find our vote is being stolen by corporations (media and computers). Is it any wonder they corporations such as Halliburton and Enron rule our government?
