I work in the aviation fuel handling industry and had never given the supposed impact of the Jet A burning black on 9/11 a second thought.
Jet A burning black will not melt steel and will only get it to red hot. Even in situations such as a Jet A tank fire, the steel takes one heck of a long time to get anywhere near red hot. It requires a sustained source of Jet A, something that a Jet A/C slamming into a building does not give.
There was a recent Jet A tank fire (2003) in Guam that clearly demonstrates just what Jet A burning black will and won't do.
The idea that Jet A burning black will melt a steel structure which has been concrete encased specifically for fire rating purposes is just ridiculous.
Considering that most of the Jet A is carried in the wings of commercial A/C, the Jet A would seemed to have been destined to be distributed anywhere but near the structural heart of the building.
