Re: Sadr's Subtle Defiance of "Demonstration Elections" in Iraq

Good posting, thanks. All we hear about Sadr is that his group are medival mysoginists, and it is probable that there are reactionary aspects to his ideology, but I suspect that if we in the U.s. could actually read his paper we would see alot of populist positiions that reflect the desires of the workers of Iraq. That article also mentioned that Sadr spoke out against the US 'dresedening' of Fallugha, not I hope from sympathy for the sunni al-queda bigots, bur from a nationalist-democratic angle. But I dont think there can be a fully national democratic program in Iraq without defying the US, the turks, and the Iranians and recognizing self-determination for the Kurds..................jd
