An American Airlines 767 bound for Los Angeles smashed into the Pentagon this morning. The Pentagon was evacuated, amid tremendous smoke and flames. This video was shot from Columbia Pike, in front of the Navy Annex at about 10:30am. The area was being evacuated accompanied by reports that another hijacked aircraft may be on its' way. Long time coming

(article 1)
I think this is tragic. I also think the deaths incurred now by Americans should be a wake up call to Americans that they can not continue to terrorize the rest of the world in the name of free enterprise and not have any consequences to pay. The ten thousnad plus casulties today are a mere fraction of the murders caused in the name of capitalism, under the disguise of democracy. Americans now must see that they are not exempt from for the atrocities they fund.

exactly

(article 1)
You hit the nail on the head there Bob. Still, it will be a tough sell to the American public. Don't forget, most people have no idea that they are in anyway contributing to the mysery of the world. After all, we're all just good, church-going folk who don't want to harm nobody, aren't we?

tragic

(article 1)
I know for a fact that this has to do with the power structure of the U.S. Overall this is abouty the value of humen life that these people seem to know nothing about. A lot of people lost there lives over something that happened.

yes,but...

(article 1)
...this may help shake alot of people from sitcom disneyland fantasy world to consider the violence and hate america perpetrates abroad and to our own populace w/ our insane prison practices (and the environmental violence). your dumbass on the street will call for more violence in reprisals and police state escalation. and dumbasses seem to rule the day.
condolences to the victems and families in new york, d.c., etc.

Wake up? Probably not

(article 1)
Do you really think this is going to wake people up to the atrocities that America commits abroad? The media and the government are already focusing all of their attention on who's to blame and how countermeasures will be taken. Noone that I've seen is examining what would cause a terrorist to do it. It would be nice if this would wake people up out of their tv induced stupor to pay attention to the world around them, but sadly, I don't think that even this is enough, especially in the way that it's being handled.

I agree with you...

(article 1)
But, the people seem to be a tad more aware about this problem, and maybe, just maybe, if they see the carnage during the war the people might see how ugly this whole thing really is. Lets just hope that the press doesn't make America's actions look rightous to the extent where everybody will buy it, again.

caution

(article 1)
watching the tragic events unfold from england, the scale of it was hard to imagine.there is tremendous sympathy for the suffering of the american and global citizens who were involved in this massacre.our government has quite rightly offered its support but hopefully with caution.our media is digesting events and there are many talk shows and phone-ins.from where i sit(and i do not suggest that my opinion is right just my opinion)the majority of the population in our country want the people invoved caught and tried.they do not favour war and vengence as the way forward.there is also sympathy for the poorer nations on this planet who have no voice,no power, who resort to extreme measures to be heard.with very little political knowledge i have heard about niaragua and the sandinistas, and other places where the american govt have destabilized other regimes for their own (perceived) security.it seems people in the middle east have a hatred for america grown from their involvement in their affairs and america needs to address these issues for the sake of humanity.what the world doesn't need right now is a knee-jerk reaction which might look good politically in the US in the short term but in the long term would be disasterous for us all.the way forward would not to bow down to terrorists but to marginalise their support by taking away the hardship and persecution felt by the populations of the weaker nations on a daily basis in a fair and just way, yours sympathetically mole

It woke ME up

(article 1)
Regarding what someone said above. I have changed my ways since this tragedy happened. It's pathetic, i know, that it took something happening on my soil for me to wake up and read the paper and try to learn what our part in this is.
Before now, i woke up to KPFA in the bay area and listened to a little bit of uncensored news, but not extensively. I sorta listened in my u.s. history class last year during current events but not extensively...now, i have woken up. I am awake and i see and i'm proud of myself that i have aknowleged my ignorance. I hope other teenagers have done the same and adults for that matter for god sakes.
