If the rumor is true -- we should start organizing
now.

WASHINGTON DC--We were waiting for this one. We knew that the neo-Nazi
organization National Alliance wanted to have a rally at the US Capitol
for sometime, and when a restriction was overturned in court, we knew it
was just a matter of time. We have a date. Saturday, August 24 at 11AM.
Just like the last event on May 11, there is a concert attached to it, so
they could possibly net the number they had before. The problem for them
is this: It's one thing to protest at an Embassy. They will be at the US
Capitol this time and a lot of eyes that weren't on them before will be
after this. This will be a major event.

One People's Project will be following this and there will be a special
page published starting next week that will update visitors regularly as
news comes in. There are a lot of organizations and people that have not
been involved with the past rallies that we expect will either be thrust
into this or make themselves a part of it. Please submit any official
calls put out by a progressive organization (we prefer that we know the
organization--we are not going to lead people astray with information
submitted by a group or individual we are unfamiliar with), information on
the nazis that may attend (we will work to confirm all this info too
before publishing), or commentary to be published on the OPP website

Also, as a point in light of some past faux pas on our part, let us make
this clear. Although we may comment from our perspective about the
situation, WE WILL NOT SPEAK FOR ANY ORGANIZATION OR PERSON THAT WILL BE A
PART OF THIS. We never have and never will. We know that we have to be
careful in how we say things, and we will take caution in how we do, but
if we are contacted by any corporate media, and they ask about certain
progressive organizations, they will be referred to that organization. To
that end, please make certain that whatever you send us includes contact
information. If you choose not to speak to media, we will simply not refer
you or speculate on your intentions.
