it doesn't seem like there is a lot of news coming out about what happened in York today, so I thought i'd fill you all in on what I saw. For those of you who don't know, there was a relatively major fascist rally in York, PA today, including groups from the National Alliance, World Church of the Creator, Aryan Nations, and Eastern Hammerbones. In the post Sept 11th surge of racist bullshit, everybody knew this was gonna be a major meeting. Anarchist, ARA, and AFA groups from Baltimore, Philly, Boston, Ohio, New Jersey, D.C., and more showed up to share the fun.

On the nazi side, they started out looking relatively tough. Maybe 150 people, mainly bones and psycopaths but not that many normal people. Security was tight, and except for some minor stuff there wasn't any real effort to get into the library to stop the meeting. There was a lot of taunting from both sides along the lines of "i'd kick your ass if the cops weren't here, etc.." During this shouting match it became obvious that York was a city with a lot of poor people and a lot of people of color who didn't want Nazis around.

As the fascists left the meeting and went to their cars, it became obvious who could back up their shit talking and who couldn't. First, a bunch of hammer"skins" made the mistake of walking into an alley without their police escort. Somebody decided to show that women don't dig fascism by fucking up a hammerskin. Before it got more intense the cops came in and saved the nazis, something that came as no surprise.

The cops then escorted the nazis to a big parking lot, where they found themselves surrounded not only by black bloc types but by hundreds of militant working class York residents. For all the tough talk, even the hammers weren't going anywhere without cops holding their hands. Finally some bones tried to drive their pickup out of an alley. Needless to say about a hundred people, many from York, ran down the alley and fucked up the pickup, knocking out all its windows. Some bones also came down the alley, but ran away once they saw what was waiting for them. Meanwhile the guys in the pickup freaked, spun around, and floored it back down the alley, hitting two or three people. This truck showed up again in later, completely wrecked, and only the waving of a gun kept the bones from being eaten alive by the crowd.

From here on in it turned into a big game of cat and mouse all over town. Packs of York kids and the black block ran all over looking for nazi cars and stragglers. Every nazi car found had its windows smashed, and i personally saw three members of the hammer"skins" running for their lives from a pack of York 12 year olds, right into the safety of a line of riot police. In fact, as tough as they looked, I did not see one instance where the nazis held their ground, especially with kids from york fucking them up worse than the most militant anarchists. I'd thought "run out of town" was just an expression until i saw the nazis chased literally to the highway by mobs of working class york residents, shitting their pants.

In the end, two things will come out of this event. One is the undeniable fact that once the cops are gone boneheads get the shit beat out of them, and bad. I'll say it right now, after what I saw I think the hammer"skins" are an absolute fucking joke. Two is that when anarchists quit trying to lead, and instead play a support role for local people of color and working class whites, even every state trooper in PA can't keep the nazis safe...
