Bush Outsourcing American Security

President Bush is outsourcing our national security while he is using maximum resources to help corporate interests around the world. This is making us more vulnerable to world terrorism.
This latest videotape of Ossama Bin Ladin should be a clear reminder of how President Bush has dropped the ball in the war on terrorism and ignored public interest. His outsourcing and favoritism has allowed Bin Ladin to continue operations while we suffer in Iraq and get no real security gains. When corporate interests are involved, Mr. Bush gives everything he’s got to see that his cronies get paid.
Bin Ladin is a symbol of how America’s past can come back to hurt us. We helped him so that he could fight our battle against the Soviets. Then we used our new friends, the Afghans, to do our job and capture the architect of 911. When he was trapped in Tora Bora after the Taliban fell in Kabul, we sent Afghan troops to hunt him down. Now we are using Pakistani troops to fight his group, even though the Pakistanis were strong allies of his since he went to Afghanistan. Mr. Bush has learned nothing from the past, when his father was the vice president, and continues to overlook the obvious. We are not allowing Americans to take care of our own security and hiding this fact from the public, which keeps us in increasing danger.
Leading up to Iraq, the President used every resource available to focus on Sadam Hussein. Halliburton spent 10 years preparing for a war they knew they could profit from. It is ridiculous to believe that coincidence is the reason that Halliburton was ready to do exactly what was needed for this war. What national security gains have we made in Iraq? We have replaced the French and Russian companies working in Iraq with our own, but will that secure cheap oil for us? It certainly has not wiped out Bin Ladin or his brethren in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Kashmir, Chechnya, or Thailand.
Our president has shown that he is not capable of winning the war on terrorism. It is a shame that the news organizations, in their zeal to appear patriotic, have overlooked Bush’s blunders and concentrate on reporting the spin. It is important for the American public to be informed on the progress of our struggle with world terrorism. I appeal to the educated and informed Americans to make a change this Tuesday and give us a chance to really fight terrorism.

According to Brezinsky, Jimmy Carter's National Security Advisor, the US started the war in Afghanistan by fomenting instability, calculated to draw the USSR into what he call the "bear trap." The intent was to wear down their resources and keep them distracted by creating a vietnam-like war for the USSR. All of this was at the expense of the Afghan society and as we have learned blowback a decade later.
The US outsourced the Afghan front line job. The CIA didn't want to run the show on the ground, not wanting a repeat of Vietnam. They outsourced the job to the Pakistani intelligence service (ISI), and leveraged Saudi funding. The ISI recruited fundamentalists, including Osama Bin Laden to create a fighting force against the USSR. [Later, the Pakistani ISI would replicate this model in Kashmir].
Both the Democrats and Republicans have been outsourcing America's future for short term gain, or blind belief in freemarket fundamentalist ideology. The mainstream thought is that the US has such a dominant economy and culture that it can afford this behavior. As the US currency teeters, and the national debt begins to get called in by China and others, America is going to re-learn the hard lesson expressed in the old adage, "the bigger they are, the harder they fall."
