I still haven't received a word of explanation for the banning.

I have also had an article censored at NY IMC.

The article was about the supposedly decommission Shoreham nuclear power plant on Long Island, and it’s covert use as a power source for the secret Brookhaven particle beam weapon systems.

The reasons given were “dubious source, blog spam, conspiro-type”. The “dubious source” was a blatant fabrication since I have photographic evidence.

On 2/4/5 I posted this same article (with the 3 NYC IMC pics) to Portland's IMC. Portland's IMC would not let it reach its newswire.

On 2/5/5 I posted the original article '911: Society of the Spectacle' to NYC's IMC. They removed it.

Same morning I sent this article again to Portland's IMC. A few hours they removed it.

Folks, Indymedia is heavily infiltrated.

Last night I posted this piece about NYC's censorship at Portland. It never appeared on their website.

I posted similiar commentary on NYC's website. It was removed about six hours later.

Two possible explanations:

1) the site editors are sincere independent media types, but they are not properly educated in the ethics of journalism and democratic political theory, and they therefore are fanatical enforcers of their own personal blend of media activism. Some indymedia workers think all allegations that the US government and the US military and intelligence services commits evil deeds are "conspiracy theories". In addition, if there is even one political Zionist on board an Indymedia editorial committee, then they will usually find a way to censor all direct criticism of the Israeli government, worldwide Zionism, or the Washington neocons.

2) The CIA, NSA, etc. has infiltrated and now controls many regional Indymedias.

3) As the primary editor of one Indymedia for three years, I am certain that the first explanation is true for many Indymedias. I suspect that the second explanation plays an increasing role in many indymedias.

Independent media activists and volunteers are often well meaning, but they are often also ignorant of human rights, civil liberties, journalistic ethics, etc. They abuse their power to impose their own personal narrow view of the world onto the Indymedia community.

i don't know any advocate of Indymedia who doesn't rave about it as some sort of source of radicalism. The concept of disappearing articles is quite different than how Indymedia is perceived by a lot of people.

So, if you think people are going to accept the idea that these IMC editors simply don't know not to censor--well, keep on trying. See how far it goes!

Wow, New York's IMC took the same article down again! Apparently the ideas in it are VERY dangerous.

This is Independent Media? Why would sneaky Baltimore IMC editors hide articles that dispute the propaganda of the State?

Hi Scott, the first article is clearly a repost from another news source, and therefore violates a long-standing policy against reposts. The article probably should have been posted in "otherpress," rather than on the newswire. It's not just you who has articles hidden - we routinely have to hide reposts from the Revolutionary Worker.

As of Feb 20, none of the rest of the articles show up as hidden for me. I wonder if you have your threshold to view articles set too high?

As a point of information, the last article listed probably _ought_ to be hidden, since it's also a repost, but it doesn't look like its from the "legitimate" press and therefore probably won't get us sued.
